Le Château is a Heritage Boutique Hotel located on the Romain Rolland Street, White Town. This hotel has five superior rooms and thirteen basic rooms, a bakery and a rooftop restaurant. I choose to stay here because of its heritage status, and it was right in the middle of the French Colony. Le Château is an elegant-looking hotel from the outside, but maintenance looks sloppy.
I stayed in a basic room, which was very small. The room had a bed, a small chair and a table, a small window and a bathroom. Many of the things were either broken or never repaired. The bathroom fittings, toilet seat and everything else were bad. I stayed in Le Château for two days, and it was not the best stay.
The property manager also showed me the superior rooms, which were much better than what I got. The Superior room was spacious, had a balcony overlooking Romain Rolland Street, and even the bed was comfortable.
Le Château is an average hotel, but it is worth a stay because of its heritage.
Restaurant
The rooftop restaurant is well built with a fantastic view. The location is perfectly placed for an amazing sunset and the city view. The restaurant also features an attached bar, making it one of the finest places to hang out in the evening. Food is basic but definitely not bad at all.
Bakery
The smell of freshly baked bread invites you to Le Château hotel’s bakery ‘Bouche Sucree’. This bakery is famous for its cupcakes, macaroons and croissant. I would recommend this bakery if you are looking for a good french bakery in Pondicherry.
