‘Agashiye’ in Gujarati means ‘on the Terrace’ and is a famous place to have authentic Gujarati Food. Even though the Agashiye restaurant is fancy as compared to the other good restaurants around. It is just for an experience you could visit. This restaurant located in the House of MG is a big converted premier boutique heritage hotel. The House of MG was also declared a World Heritage City by UNESCO. The restaurant and the place look beautiful. It is a delight visiting or even staying at a boutique heritage hotel. But the main question is; How was the food? Let me tell you.

Review

I have never had a disappointing lunch as I had at the Agashiye Restaurant. They have two different sets of deals; Kansa Thali and Silver Thali. There is just a minute difference between the two Silver Thali is served on a Silver Plate with maybe some extra items. I chose Silver Thali, just because I wanted to eat more items on the menu on a Silver Plate. The price of the Silver Thali was ₹2000/- or $27, which is very expensive. I did not mind paying for it because I wanted to have a good experience having authentic Gujarati Thali. The first entry to the restaurant cleared me out that the food would be bad because the restaurant was empty.

My first thought was, maybe because of the expensive menu. But the truth got cleared about the food. The ambience was delightful at Agashiye Restaurant and even the staff, but the food sucked. I tried every bit of items like Choli Kachori, Dhokla, Mohanthar, Gujarati Kadhi, and even shrikhand. I did not like any of the food. Maybe I did eat shrikhand a little extra, and that’s it. To cover up my chargers, I did get two extra bottles of water. The above dislike comes from me and my experiences with global cuisine and flavours. As a food lover, Agashiye Restaurant is not the place to try Authentic Gujarati Thali. Even some of the locals warned me from going to this place because of its taste. I would never go to this restaurant again, but I would suggest everyone visit it. At least to see the heritage building and Silver Plates.
