Tahini Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe

Tahini Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup tahini
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips (dark, milk, or a mix)
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • Flaky sea salt for sprinkling (optional)

Instructions to make Tahini Chocolate Chip Cookies:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream Wet Ingredients:
    • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, tahini, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and well combined.
  3. Add Eggs and Vanilla:
    • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine Dry Ingredients:
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. Fold in Chocolate Chips and Nuts:
    • Gently fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the cookie dough.
  7. Chill the Dough (Optional):
    • For thicker cookies, you can chill the dough in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  8. Form Cookie Dough Balls:
    • Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough and roll them into balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheets, leaving enough space between each cookie.
  9. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. The centres may still look slightly soft.
  10. Cool and Sprinkle Sea Salt (Optional):
    • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. If desired, sprinkle a bit of flaky sea salt on top of each cookie while they are still warm.
  11. Enjoy:
    • Once cooled, enjoy your delicious Tahini Chocolate Chip Cookies with a glass of milk or your favourite beverage!

These cookies have a unique nutty flavour from the tahini, and the combination of chocolate chips and sea salt adds a perfect balance of sweetness and saltiness. Happy baking!
