Chikmagalur, or Chikkamagaluru as it is formally known, is the district capital of the Chikmagalur region of the Indian state of Karnataka. As a result of its prime location at the base of the Western Ghats’ Mullayanagiri summit, the city draws visitors from all over the state to enjoy its pleasant and favourable hill station environment, tropical rainforest, and coffee fields.

Chikmagalur may be found on the Deccan plateau at the base of the Western Ghats in the Malenadu region of Karnataka. Its elevation above sea level is 1,090 metres (3,580 feet). The Yagachi River begins not far from town and travels south-southeast to meet the Hemavati.
